My story

I'll meet you in the middle

I never imagined I would be here. After 35 years, my marriage ended. There was betrayal, heartbreak and a grief deeper than I knew was possible. There were nights my mind wouldn't stop racing, and questions I never thought I'd be asking.

Through all of it, my Catholic faith wasn't something on the outside of my story. It was at the very center of it. Scripture became my lifeline. Some nights I kept God's Word right beside me, because I needed something solid to stand on when everything else was moving.

"God, please do not waste this."

God placed women in my path. Some were further down the road. Some simply sat beside me in the pain, prayed with me, reminded me of truth when I couldn't see it, and gave me permission not to be strong all the time. Slowly I began to think: maybe one day I could do this for another woman.

I would never call betrayal or divorce good. But I have asked God to bring good from what I've walked through. The places He has healed in me have become places of compassion, where I can sit beside another woman and say, "I know something about this road you're on."

Why In the Middle

A place for the woman in the pew asking, "Now what?"

For years this ministry was Catholic Moms in the Middle, encouraging women in midlife. As I began sharing small pieces of my own story, women kept answering with theirs.

I saw a real gap. The Church rightly champions marriage, and it should. But once divorce has happened, there are women sitting in our pews asking, "Now what?" After much prayer and discernment, In the Middle became a place for them: grounded in truth, Scripture and our Catholic faith, without minimizing marriage or the suffering of the woman in front of us.

  • "That happened to me too."
  • "I've never told anyone this before."
  • "I've been divorced for years and I still don't know how to make sense of it."

I'm not here to judge your story or debate whether your marriage should have ended. Priests, therapists, attorneys and spiritual directors all play important roles. I'm here for the woman who says, "This is where my life is now. How do I take the next faithful step?"

Wherever you are in your story, you don't have to walk it alone.

I'll meet you in the middle.
